Climate Change Gathering

Climate Change Gathering poster

Please come along to the MK Rose at 1.00pm on November 28th to show MK’s support for the campaigning efforts to seek action on climate change, before ‘COP21′, the key United Nations Conference on Climate, taking place in Paris from the following Monday.

Campaign pledge cards

Everyone coming to the gathering will be asked to sign a pledge card.  A key feature of this card is that as well as asking our MPs to act, it includes a space for recording our own personal commitments to tackling climate change – our own support makes it easier for MPs to ask parliament to take the hard decisions required.

The cards have been written to enable people to record actions they are already taking as well as future commitments.  For anyone unsure what sort of things to mention, two separate leaflets are available: one from Transition MK “50 ways to reduce your carbon footprint” and one from Christian Ecology Link (recently re-named Green Christian), called “Nine Ways to live gently on the Earth

Pledge cards can be downloaded here: TMK Pledge card

If you can’t come on the 28th you can still support the action

We hope that people unable to come may still complete a pledge card and hand it to someone else who is coming.  The completed cards will be brought to Campbell Park on the 28th.  The more we can collect, the greater the impact of the message to our two MPs.

Completed cards can also be delivered – before the event - to Christ the Cornerstone, or to the offices of Community Action – Acorn House, Midsummer Boulevard.  Or contact if neither of these options is convenient for you.

The plan for the day

We aim to meet at The MK Rose at 1.00pm and walk to the Beacon of Hope, where the campaign cards will be handed in and everyone will have a chance to meet with other groups. There will be a few short speeches by local dignitaries.  The event is scheduled to finish by 2.00pm.

For Christians, taking part in this represents one small action that we can take in support of the 5th Mark of Mission: To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and renew the life of the earth.

Please contact if you have any questions about this event.
